As a mother and a maternity, newborn and family photographer in Mackay I see many new mother’s coming into my studio. They can feel overwhelmed with this new journey into motherhood, sleepless nights and information coming from all angles. This post is to remind them that they need to remember that they need to take care of themselves to ensure they can take care of those loved ones in their lives.
New mothers can expect a range of physical and emotional experiences with a newborn. Physically, new mothers may experience postpartum recovery, fatigue, and changes in hormone levels. Emotionally, new mothers may experience a mix of joy, love, overwhelming responsibilities, stress, anxiety, and the “baby blues.” Caring for a newborn can also involve frequent feedings, changing diapers, and sleep deprivation. New mothers should also expect their routines to change significantly and their social life to be temporarily disrupted. New mothers must take care of themselves, ask for help when needed, and reach out to others for support.
